Black Bean Burger for the Grill

Who doesn't love a grilled burger? I like grilled food charred but I also know that charred meat has been shown to be carcinogenic!! Vegetables are not when charred/grilled. So I have a great alternative for meat burgers.

Black Bean Burgers
3 cups black beans drained and rinsed. (Divided)
(I like Edens organic black beans)
1 egg
If you don't do eggs then do a flaxseed egg substitute, 1Tblsp. flaxseed and 3 Tblsp. water mix  and set aside until it gels
1/2 C brown rice bread crumbs or any gluten free bread crumbs you choose
1/2 C grated carrots or 1/4 C carrots and 1/4 C corn
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp each of cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, turmeric, paprika, and black pepper

Into the food processor add the following and pulse until almost smooth.
2 C Black beans, egg, carrots/corn, bread crumbs and spices. Then place the mixture in a bowl and add the rest of the beans. Stir until combined. Form into 4 patties. Place on foil, drizzle with olive oil and on the grill. Grill on low/med for about 8 min.
1 cup of Black beans has roughly 35-40g of protein. So if you add sliced avocado and a slice of cheddar cheese you have added 40-45g of protein to your meal!! That is not counting any sides you eat or the bun. Your bun whether gluten free or whole wheat organic contain 2-3g of protein.
Yum! I'm ready for a burger!
