Homemade Organic Baby food

Homemade organic baby food really is affordable and easy to make. It didn't take much time or complicated equipment.
Think about it. You are going to the grocery store anyway, right? So pick up the organic fruits and vegs while you are there. You are in the kitchen cooking dinner anyway, right? So cook the baby food while you cook dinner.
I loved helping daughter #4 make food for this sweet baby boy.

Why make your own baby food?
Well, Your child's system isn't equipped to handle all the additives, preservatives, pesticides or herbicides that are in traditional baby food. All of these things can be hormone interrupters and inflammatory. Medical science has FINALLY confirmed that underlying inflammation is the root cause of most chronic diseases including allergies and skin rashes!!! We can't control all the toxins in our environment but we CAN control what goes in our child's mouth.
So how did we make our baby food?
Food: ORGANIC---1 package carrots about 8 large ones, 1 bunch kale,
1 package frozen green beans or peas, 2 large zucchini, 4 apples (leave the peel on 1-2 of them), 1 pear, Pink Himalayan sea salt
1 cup rolled oats, 2  chamomile tea bags,
Non-organic--  2 sweet potatoes or yams, 8 very ripe bananas, 5 very soft avocados
Bake the yams/sweet pots in the oven, Chop up all the following and place in a dutch oven on top of the stove. First add 1 TBLS Himalayan sea salt, the apples, pears, and carrots. Cook with the lid on for about 10 min in enough filtered water to cover them. Then add the zucchini and green beans or peas and cook a couple minutes until tender, then add the chopped kale. (to prepare the kale--remove the kale from the stems and tear up and massage it to break it down-that makes the kale sweeter)
Use a high powered blender or food processor (we used a ninja). Place 1 yam and 1/2  the cooked vegs/fruit in the blender, add 3 bananas, 2 1/2 avocados. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add the juice from the veg/fruit as needed for blending. Pour into a large mixing bowl and repeat the process with the rest of the vegs/fruit. This mixture made 26-27, 4 oz containers.
For the oatmeal:
In a pan heat 2 cups of filtered water with 2 chamomile tea bags and 1 tsp Himalayan pink sea salt. (we used the tea bags for this recipe because the oatmeal will be eaten before bed. Chamomile is very calming but you can use filtered water instead) Steep the tea bags (lid on) for about 5 minutes then squeeze the bags and remove. Add the oatmeal and cook. Add more water as needed.
Place the oatmeal, and 2 bananas in the blender. Blend until smooth. This mixture makes about 8-9, 4 oz containers.
Freeze until ready to use and just thaw.
Cost????
You can buy "over priced" 4 oz containers for baby food but we bought regular  BPA free 4 oz containers. It is a one time purchase to be used over and over.
After "school teacher daughter #4" put the calculator to use she figured our food costs right at 1/3 the cost of ready-made organic baby food!
1/3 the cost and about 1 hour of our time!!!! I say that is a win for this precious boy! GO, TEAM! 😁
